One to One Reading Book Drive

During my second semester at UC, my learning community participated in Project Impact. Project Impact is a project that benefits a non-profit organization in the greater community. My learning community was paired with the One to One Reading program. One to One Reading was founded by the Northern Kentucky Education Council. Their primary purpose is to have grade schoolers reading at their appropriate reading level by the third grade. A representative from One to One Reading came to our class in the beginning of the semester to relay the project to us. I volunteered to participate in holding a book drive. The goal was to collect 500 books. It was decided that the main part of the book drive would be held on UC's campus. I thought that it would be a great idea to reach out to my Church parish community (St. Aloysius on the Ohio) and hold a mini book drive after each Mass the weekend of March 22 and 23. The book at St. Al's raised over 500 books alone, it was a complete success.

SWOT Analysis

During my first year at the University of Cincinnati, my Learning Community was assigned a restaurant and we were to conduct a SWOT analysis. The restaurant we were assigned was Gold Star Chili. Over the course of the first semester, we analyzed Gold Star Chili's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Personally, I worked with the weaknesses group and revised and edited the SWOT analysis paper. Once we had finished, our group presented our findings and recommendations to representatives from Gold Star Chili.
